Hi Jordan,
I'm glad you found us here. Welcome to Portico.
Portico is an open community, deliberately set up to include everyone - professionals, people with lived experience of mental illness or addiction, families, caregivers, etc. The goal is to improve practice and improve lives and we think that's best done with everyone talking at the same table, so to speak. As long as we all follow our Community Guidelines, it works.
It seems that you have something to share about opioid use and/or harm reduction. Both of the links you've posted point to a Bluelight page about using methadone. I think the second link should point to the Knowledge Ex page Straight Talk: Street Methadone. That page includes information about the dangers of street methadone.
We have pretty good information here about opioid use you might want to check out:
Prescription opioid problems includes an overview, and info on treatment, guidelines and tools and resources.
And we've posted the Primary Care Addiction Toolkit, which has an entire section devoted to opioid misuse and addiction, including screening, assessment and treatment. In the toolkit, there's a page on medication assisted treatment of opioid addiction where you'll find information on methadone. As with all Portico content, the toolkit is written for professionals, but useful to anyone interested in learning more.
And here's a page about harm reduction with a definition, principles and related approaches to care.
Let us know what other information or resources you think professionals and others should have in order to improve care. And if you have any to share, you can post them here.
Thanks Jordan.
Cheryl
