Genetic mapping of schizophrenia a big step forward​

Scientists from more than 30 countries have collaborated on a study that maps the genetic markers for schizophrenia. They found more than 100 areas in human DNA that seem to contribute to the disorder, 83 of which had not been known before. Their research - Biological insights from 108 schizophrenia-associated genetic loci - has been published in the journal Nature. Professor Jo Knight was one of the researchers. She's a behavioural neurobiologist at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) in Toronto.
