Kids caught using substances at school should be screened: study
Researchers have found that drinking or using marijuana at school is associated with increased odds of mental health problems such as depression and attempted suicide.
The study, presented May 3 at the Pediatric Academy Societies annual meeting in Vancouver, used data from a survey of more than 15,000 U.S. high school students.
Researchers suggest the strong association between at-school substance use and mental health problems means those students should be screened and offered appropriate services.
