More than one in 10 young people sought professional mental health support in 2012
Statistics Canada's Health Survey released December 17, 2014 looked at mental health supports for youth and young adults aged 15 to 24.
In 2012, more than 10% reported they'd consulted a health professional about emotional, mental or substance use problems, most often a family doctor. More than twice as many - 27% - turned to informal supports such as friends and family for help with problems. Eight per cent of young people looked online for support.
