The link between anxiety and gut bacteria
Neurobiologists at Oxford University have found that prebiotics may have an anti-anxiety effect. Their study, published in the journal Psychopharmacology, showed that people who took prebiotics exhibited positive emotional states compared to the placebo group and had lower levels of cortisol, a stress hormone.
