Personalized medicine: Pharmacogenetics
Pharmacogenetics refers to customized drug therapy based on a person's genetic profile. Clinicians use a DNA profile to prescribe medications that consider drug-drug interactions, metabolism and other factors. Dr. James Kennedy, head of Neuroscience Research at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH), offers a continuing education course on pharmacogenetics in mental health and addiction.
