Brain training may help calm the storms of schizophrenia
In this National Public Radio (NPR) documentary, available as text or a podcast, scientists say that at its core, schizophrenia is a decline in basic brain functioning, where memory and motor skills start to falter. They describe studies looking at whether the brain can be retaught, known as cognitive rehabilitation. They also suggest theories for why people with schizophrenia have hallucinations and delusional ideas and suggest those may not be the biggest problems for many people with the disorder.
