Pregnancy stress linked to genetic changes in children

Researchers at the Douglas Mental Health University Institute and McGill University followed more than 150 families after the 1998 ice storm in Quebec and have found changes in the DNA of children whose mothers were pregnant with them during or just after the storm.

They suggest hardships experienced by the mothers changed the genetic expression of their children's DNA.  You can read the Globe and Mail story and the study which was published online in the journal PLOS ONE.
