Provincial advocate calling for an inquest in the death of 12-year-old with mental health issues
The family of 12-year-old Chazz Petrella and the provincial advocate for children and youth, Irwin Elman, are calling for a coroner's inquest into the boy's death.
Chazz died after years of difficulty where he was bounced from schools to treatments centres to hospitals and home again. In a letter to chief coroner Dr. Dirk Huyer, Elman writes, "We must use his death as an opportunity to examine the intersection of service sectors that many parents state are disconnected, virtually impossible to navigate and entirely siloed."
