Study supports gradual reduction of smoking, with medication
Practice guidelines that focus on immediate cessation without medication may need revisiting according to a study done in the US.
The research, led by Dr. Jon Ebbert of the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, NY, showed that smokers who took a pill known as Champix or Chantix were more likely to quit after cutting back on cigarettes than those who did not use the drug.
