Young people getting hooked on flavoured cigarettes
In his recent Grand Rounds presentation on the misconceptions of smoking cessation, Dr. Andrew Pipe says of tobacco cigarettes, "Outside of the implantable insulin pump, these are the most sophisicated drug delivery devices in our community."
Imagine, then, how appealing fruit and mint flavoured versions are to young people. A recent Canadian study shows that more than half of teen smokers use flavoured tobacco products. You can read more about the use of these starter cigarettes in this CBC article.
