Steering Committee Member (LGBTQ Extension): Chyrell Bellamy is the Director of Peer Services / Research and an Assistant Professor of Yale University's Department of Psychiatry. Dr. Bellamy brings both personal, practice, and research experience with people in recovery from mental illness and substance abuse, particularly with those who are homeless, African Americans, and LGB people.

Dr. Bellamy is currently the co-project director on a National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) funded project that explores the effectiveness of peer mentoring for people experiencing multiple psychiatric hospitalizations.

 

Steering Committee Member (Main Study and LGBTQ Extension): Larry Davidson has received national and international recognition for research on recovery from and in serious mental illness, the development of qualitative and participatory research methods, community-based treatment of psychosis, and the development and evaluation of innovative psychosocial interventions, including the deployment of peer staff in a variety of service and support roles.

He is a Professor of Psychology in the Department of Psychiatry at Yale University, where he also serves as Director of the Yale Program for Recovery and Community Health. Larry also works as the Senior Clinical Officer and Mental Health Policy Director for the Connecticut Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services.
