From time to time, I'm going to post some images of my work in progress. This screen-shot shows a page I'm working on for my promotional excerpt. In this part of the story, I'm on my first community outing and experiencing horrible intrusive thoughts which freak me out. Luckily, there is a counsellor from the OCD Institute there to help me. (Yes, this really happened!)
I've cleaned up most of the boo-boos and am now adding type to the voice balloons. As a somewhat "old school" graphic artist, adding the text digitally feels a bit like cheating to me. However, doing it by hand is very time-consuming, even for someone who has a nice clean hand for printing, which I do.
An afterthought: Some readers will probably find the first line of text in the page below shocking, especially if they're not familiar with Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder. For more information about violent intrusive thoughts, a hallmark of OCD, please see this great fact sheet from the International OCD Foundation.
