The HEIA Tool Supplements
The HEIA tool includes a series of extra resources that assist in completing the tool in specific situations. Currently, there are supplements about French language services, the public health sector, and immigrant populations.
The Immigrant Populations Supplement
This guide is intended for development and planning staff at organizations working with immigrant populations. When conducting a HEIA, the supplement will help users spot and deal with potential unintended health equity impacts on immigrant groups. It applies to immigrants, refugees, temporary foreign workers, international students, and other migrants.
The Public Health Unit (PHU) Supplement
This guide is intended for development and planning staff at PHUs in Ontario. The supplement outlines special considerations for the public health sector when applying HEIA. This includes assisting local PHUs to meet Ontario Public Health Standards (OPHS) requirements.
The French Language Services Supplement for MOHLTC and LHINs
This guide is intended for staff of the Ontario Ministry of Health and Long-term Care (MOHLTC) and the Ontario Local Health Integration Networks (LHINs). It helps these organizations consider French language service alongside other health equity issues when completing a HEIA tool.
