Eating disorders
People with eating disorders generally have a false perception of their body shape and/or weight.
- "The Student Body: Promoting Health at Any Size" was developed by the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto. These teacher training modules help teachers identify factors that can contribute to unhealthy dieting in children and ways to prevent it. Topics include media and peer pressure, healthy eating, active living, teasing, adult role models and school climate.
- The British Columbia Ministry of Education has produced a resource to help teachers learn about eating disorders. "Teaching Students with Mental Health Disorders: Resources for Teachers: Volume 1—Eating Disorders" includes information on helping students with eating disorders, factors contributing to eating disorders, characteristics of students with eating disorders, and classroom strategies to support them.
