What is gambling?​

Gambling may be defined as risking something of value when there is an element of chance associated with the outcome. It can encompass a range of activities, including casino and racetrack betting, sports betting, playing cards for money, bingo, slot machines, online gambling and puchasing lottery or scratch tickets. 

Gambling is widely available in Canada as a result of the expansion of government-sanctioned gambling since the early 1990s. Advances in technology have increased this access even more through online and mobile gambling.
