Psychotherapy: CBT session

Table 14.1: Recommended structure for CBT sessions

1. Set an agenda, asking patients what they want to cover today.

2. Ask for feedback on the previous session--what they recall, what was useful, what bothered them, etc.

3. Check mood using the Beck Depression Invenory II.

4. Review homework and what was learned, address thoughts interfering with adherence.

5. Address new issues on agenda.

6. Ask the patient to summarize the session and collaboratively set new homework.

7. Request feedback.
